You selected the issue: Double input

Double input may occur in Big Picture Mode menus if you use an unregistered Steam Controller.

Troubleshooting:
Register your Steam controller
  1. Launch Steam in Big Picture Mode
  2. Select the settings icon in the top-right
  3. Under Controller, select Controller settings
  4. Find your controller listed under Detected Controllers:
  5. Select REGISTER, then Register to this account
  6. Choose preferences and click Submit
Calibrate your Steam Controller
  1. Launch Steam in Big Picture Mode
  2. Select the settings icon in the top-right
  3. Under 'Controller', select 'Controller settings'
  4. Find your controller listed under 'Detected Controllers:'
  5. Select your controller and click 'CALIBRATE'
  6. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete calibration
Restart the Steam client
  1. In the Steam client, click on the Steam dropdown
  2. Select Exit
  3. Re-launch Steam from your desktop
