Recovering a Lost or Forgotten Steam Account

Try to self-recover your account or contact Steam Support:

You can use the Help site to try to self recover your account. If you work through the recovery process on the help site and can't recover the account automatically, at the end of the process you'll be presented with an intake form to contact the Steam Support team for help.

When contacting Steam Support try to provide as much Proof of ownership as you can.

I'm concerned I may not be able to recover my account

You can always contact Steam Support for account recovery even if you've forgotten the account's email address, password, and phone number.

If you're getting stuck in the recovery process, make sure you're entering the information Steam requests at each step. For example, when searching for an account, Steam's account recovery system asks for your email address, not the account's current email address. If you're sure you can't remember the email address, entering your current email address as instructed for the search will help Steam identify your account, or present other options for locating an account if the email address is incorrect.

What do I do if I no longer have access to the email address on my Steam account?

If you no longer have access to the contact email address associated with your Steam Account, please contact Steam Support.

How can I safeguard my account?

For information on how to safeguard an account, please read the Account Security Recommendations article.

What about my items?
